Solution: Let us consider 1 = 5000 newspapers as a key. The required pictograph would be:

                   Months Number of newspapers supplied

                 January

                 February

                 March

                 April

                 May

                 June

                 July

                           (a) Since, for March and May equal number of symbols is used that is 5 symbol each to
represent the newspapers. Therefore, in the months of March and May, the same
                               number of newspapers were supplied.

                           (b) For the month of July only two symbols ( ) are used to represent the
                               newspapers, which is least.
So, the least number of newspapers were supplied in the month of July.
                           (c) The total number of newspapers supplied over a period of 7 months.
                                = 7 × 5000 + 3 × 5000 + 5 × 5000 + 4 × 5000 + 5 × 5000 + 6 × 5000 + 2 × 5000
                                = 35000 + 15000 + 25000 + 20000 + 25000 + 30000 + 10000 = 160000
