Artistic and Aesthetic Consideration
So far, we have learnt how to draw pictographs and bar graphs. Though these two types of graphs
mentioned here are informative but they lack artistic and visual imagination. But when these
two components — artistic and visual imagination are combined, such graphs become attention-
seeking and visually pleasing.
Infographics are therefore graphical visual representations of information, data or knowledge
intended to present quick and clear information. It helps in improving cognitive skills of teaching
and learning. Business houses use infographics for communication.
• Infographics simplify heavy data.
• They combine images, texts, diagrams, charts and videos.
• It takes minimal use of text in favour of visuals.
Let us consider an example.
Here is a table of the tallest mountains on each continent.
Let us make a bar graph and an infographic for the data of the table.
Continent Asia South North Africa Europe Antarctica Australia
America America
Tallest Everest Aconcagua Denali Kilimanjaro Elbrus Vinson Kosciuszko
Mountain Massif
Height 8848 m 6962 m 6194 m 5895 m 5642 m 4892 m 2228 m
