In 1891, Canadian physical education teacher James Naismith created basketball in Springfield,
Massachusetts, with the goal of creating a sport that would be less prone to injuries than football.
He invented indoor sports basketball to keep sportsmen indoors during the winter.
To improve the player’s skills, teamwork and prepare them for the national basketball championships the
principal of St. Joseph School, order to prepare a basketball court in the school ground of the given dimension
as shown in the following figure.
