            Construction of a Square

            Let us understand this with the help of an example.

            Example 3: Draw a square of side length 4 cm.

            Solution: Steps of construction:
                 Step 1: Draw a line segment AB that is 4 cm long.                           A         4 cm         B

                 Step 2: At point A, draw a perpendicular to line segment AB with the help of a protractor.











                 Step 3: On the perpendicular line, mark a point D such that the
                 distance from A to D is 4 cm. (We can use a ruler or a compass to

                 do this.)
