of symmetry
The line of symmetry is the line which passes through the middle of the object or any
shape to obtain the two symmetrical halves. It is also termed an axis of symmetry.
The dividing line can go in any direction, up and down, side to side, or at an angle.
Types of lines of symmetry are as follows:
1. Horizontal line of symmetry 2. Vertical line of symmetry 3. Diagonal line of symmetry
A horizontal line of symmetry is the horizontal line that passes through the centre of an object
and divides it into two equal halves. Figures having horizontal line of symmetry are as follows:
A vertical line of symmetry is a vertical line that passes through the centre of a shape and splits
it into two equal halves. Figures having vertical line of symmetry are as follows:
In English alphabets,
Note: 1. B, C, D, E, H, K shows horizontal line of symmetry.
2. A, H, I, M, O, U, V, W, T, and Y shows vertical line of symmetry.
A diagonal line of symmetry is the line that runs in the slanting position (neither horizontal
nor vertical) across the shape and splits it into two equal halves. Figures having diagonal line of
symmetry are as follows:
Some figures have all, horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines of symmetry. For example,
Note:
