              1. Identify the following poses in the given scene of Yoga classroom.

                  (a) Tadasana (mountain pose)
                  (b) Virabhadrasana (the second warrior pose)
                  (c) Vrikshasana (Tree Pose)

              2. Mark the angles formed in poses (a) and (e) in the above question.
              3. Name the pose in which you can see:
                  (a) a horizontal line (b) a vertical line

                  (c) a pair of perpendicular lines.
              4. Which day is celebrated as International Yoga Day?

            Basic Concepts of Geometry

Geometry has great importance in our lives. We cannot imagine any art form, measurement,
architecture, engineering, cloth design etc., without using geometrical ideas. In our daily lives,
we see different types of angles formed between the edges of plane surfaces. While drawing the
layout of a multistoried building, an architect uses knowledge of angles to draw intersecting lines
and parallel lines at different angles. In this chapter, we will explore the basic ideas of geometry,
which are the foundation stones of any geometrical concept and will help us understand more
advanced geometry topics in later stages.

            Plane

Look at the top of your desk, teacher’s table, or a sheet of paper, etc. All these
have a flat surface. Each flat surface is a part of a plane.
A plane has no boundaries and can extend infinitely in all
directions. Now look at the black/white board fixed on the wall of
your classroom. You can imagine the wall as a plane and the board
is a part of it. This wall is also part of a plane, it can be stretched
up and down and left and right.
            Point

Have you ever put a dot on plane paper with the sharp tip of a pencil?
