            Ruhi: The record for the deepest scuba dive in underwater is at 332 metres approximately, set by
            Ahmed Gabr and we can write it in an integer as –332 m.

            In class 6, our math teacher taught us about the ‘Building of Fun’ and numbering of the floors of
            the ‘Building of Fun’ into integers. And, how to perform addition and subtraction operations on
            integers. Let’s recall what we have learnt about the integers in the previous class.

            Integers are the collection of whole numbers and negative numbers which can be represented on
            a number line as shown below.

            Negative of natural numbers are called negative integers. That is –1, –2,        Zero (0) is an integer

            Negative integers = –1, –2, –3, –4, ...

            Absolute value of an Integer

            The numerical value of any integer regardless of its sign is called the absolute value of the integer.
            So, the absolute value of an integer is always positive. It is denoted by the modulus symbol, ‘|  |’.

            The absolute value of an integer a is denoted by |a|.

            For example: (a)  |3| = 3                 (b)  |–7| = 7
