Objective: To understand the best deal by discount.
Materials Required: Collection of some items such as text books, notebooks, toys,
pen-pencils, shoes, etc., some colourful stickers for making the price tags, fake
currency notes of `10, `50, `100, `200, and `500
Procedure:
• Divide the students in pairs. One student takes on role of shopkeeper, and the other takes
on the role of customer.
• Some relevant prices are marked on things and given to student 1.
• Fake currency is given to student 2.
• The student posing as shopkeeper decides the marked price of goods and discounts to
be offered on them. (Discount = Marked Price – Selling Price)
• Student posing as customer buys the things using fake currency.
• After completing the transaction, each pair calculates the percentage of profit or loss
made by student 1 and records their findings in the tables below:
