In our daily life, ‘symmetry’ is very common. In the earlier classes, you have learnt about the lines
of symmetry.
Draw the lines of symmetry of the given objects from our surroundings and complete the given
table.

Symmetry
In our day-to-day life, we see various folded objects whose portions are identical and exactly fit
to each other. These things give an idea regarding the concept of symmetry. Also, you can see
some evenly balanced objects in our surroundings that are symmetrical. So, we can say, due to
symmetry, objects are balanced and look beautiful.
You can find the symmetry in many objects available in nature, architecture, designs, arts, etc.
Look at the following pictures. You can see that after drawing a straight line, either vertical or
horizontal in the objects, their one half is exactly same in size and shape as the other half.

Thus, ‘symmetry’ is defined as a balanced and proportionate similarity, found in two halves of
an object.
