Symmetry of English Alphabet
As numerals, some english alphabets also have lines of symmetry.
English alphabets having horizontal line of symmetry: Alphabets B, C, D, E, and K have only
horizontal line symmetry.
English alphabets having vertical line of symmetry: Alphabets A, M, T, U, V, W, and Y have only
vertical line symmetry.
English alphabets having both horizontal and vertical lines of symmetry: Alphabets H, I, O, and
X have two lines of symmetry (one horizontal and one vertical lines of symmetry).
English alphabet having no lines of symmetry: Alphabets F, G, J, L, N, P, Q, R, S, and Z don’t have
any line of symmetry.
Line of Symmetry of Geometrical Figures
No. Geometrical Shapes Line(s) of Symmetry Representation of Symmetry
1. Line segment A line segment has 1 line of symmetry. It is
the perpendicular bisector of the segment.
2. Angle An angle with equal arms has 1 line of
symmetry. It is the angle bisector.
3. Equilateral Triangle An equilateral triangle has 3 lines of
symmetry. They are angle bisectors of an
equilateral triangle.
