              1. Give the name of four objects for each of the following shapes:
                  (a) Cuboid ......................... ......................... ......................... .........................
                  (b) Cone ......................... ......................... ......................... .........................

                  (c) Cylinder ......................... ......................... ......................... .........................
                  (d) Sphere ......................... ......................... ......................... .........................

              2. Draw a structure of a cuboid and a cone.

            Solid Shapes

Solid shapes are 3-dimensional objects that have three dimensions: length, breadth, and height
or depth that occupy the space.
If we look around, we find many such objects having 3D shapes, such as dice, football, pipes,
match boxes, ice cream cones, etc., these are all 3-dimensional shapes.

                                                                BATTERY
                     Dice Brick Battery Football Tent

Faces, Vertices, and Edges of Solid Shapes
Let us take a dice, and observe it.
            Here, you can see: Remember

                • Flat surfaces where dots have made. These are faces of the dice. We can write 2D as short
                                                                                         form for 2-dimension and 3D
                • The lines that join two faces of the dice are called edges. These as short form for 3-dimension.
lines are the edges of the dice.
                • The points where edges meet each other. These points are the vertices or corners Face
                of the dice.
The flat surfaces of solids are called their faces. It is denoted by F. Edge

The lines where two faces of a solid meet are called the edges of the solid. It is Vertex
denoted by E. The points where edges of a solid meet are the vertices or corners
of the solid. It is denoted by V.
Let us discuss about the vertices, faces, and edges of some geometrical shapes:

                  Cube A cube has 8 vertices, 6 faces, Example: E F
                                       and 12 edges A B

                                                                                                G
                                                                                         H
                                                                                     D C
6 faces are: ABFE, ADHE, DHGC, BCGF, EFGH, and
                                                                                       ABCD
                                                                       8 vertices are: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H
12 Edges are: AB, BC, CD, DA, DH, HG, GC, EF, FG,
                                                                                  HE, BF, and AE
