Visualising Solid Objects
Look at the size of the given two boxes.
How many small boxes can be fitted in the big box?
On the observation of the bigger box, 2 rows
of 6 small boxes can be fitted along the length
of the bigger box.
And, 2 more rows of 6 small boxes can be fitted above the boxes placed in the previous position.
Thus, 24 small boxes can be fitted into the one big box, without actually calculating the
measurement.
So, we have made a guess about the space. This is called visual estimation.
Let us take another example, suppose there are 16 cans on the given shelf.
Can you estimate how many cans would be placed on the shelf to fill it?
By visual estimation, it is clear that 16 more cans would be fitted in the empty space on the shelf.
