Objective: To reinforce the concept of fraction as an Operator ‘of’ by using square
grid.
Materials Required: Square grid papers and coloured pencils or sketch pens
Procedure:
• Make two 8 × 8 grids with 64 small squares.
Grid-A Grid-B

• Colour red of the grid A vertically and other of the grid A blue.

Since, the total number of small squares in grid A = 64, therefore,

2 of 64 small squares 2 × 64 = 32 small squares
So, in grid A, 32 small squares need to be coloured red and 32 small squares in blue
as shown below.

• Now, take grid B and colour of grid red and then next of grid blue. Repeat this pattern

on the other half of grid B as shown below.

Therefore, of grid B = of 64 small squares = × 64 = 16 small squares need to be
