            Mapping Space Around Us

The term ‘map’ is not new to us. It gives us a lot of information. As a student, you must have used
it in subjects like Geography and History. In real life also, we make use of maps to find a place,
for example, a venue, a building, or a house address. A map shows the location of a particular
place with respect to other places like a road, a river or a mountain. It is usually drawn on a flat
surface. Before we understand how to read a map, let us see two maps given in figures (a) and (b).
