              1. Shown alongside is the map of a city.
                 (a) Look at the map and colour the map as per the instructions:
                    • School – Maroon Housing

                 (b) Mark a point X at the intersection of Mahatma Gandhi Road and Street 1.
                 (c) Mark a point Y at the intersection of Abul Kalam Road and Street 2.
                (d) Draw the route (using line) from the ‘Housing Societies’ to the ‘Restaurant’ and then to the ‘Library’.
              2. Draw a map of your school using a proper scale and symbols for various things like classrooms, staff
                 room, playground, etc.
              3. Draw a map showing directions from your house to your school using a proper scale. Use different symbols
                 for various landmarks.

            Polyhedrons

The solids made up of flat polygonal faces are called polyhedrons. Remember
Some common terms associated with a polyhedron are: Polygons are simple shapes

                • Faces (F): The flat surfaces that a make up polyhedron are called like square, rectangle and
its faces. triangle, etc which are made
                                                                                         up of line segments.
                • Edges (E): The line segments where the faces join are its edges.
                • Vertices (V): The points where the edges intersect each other are known as vertices.
Let us see a few examples.

              1. Rectangular Prism (Cuboid): A solid with six rectangular faces
that meet each other at right angle is a cuboid. Here, we have:

F = 6: ABCD, EFGH, ADEH, CDEF, BCFG, ABGH.
E = 12: AB, BC, CD, DA, EF, FG, GH, HE, AH, DE, CF, BG.

                     V = 8: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H.
