You have learnt about robots in the previous class. In this chapter, you will
learn about robots, their key features, everyday uses and functions.

                 ROBOT

A robot is a machine that can do work by itself, like moving,
picking things, etc. It can act like humans and perform various

tasks. A robot can also do work that is hard or dangerous

                 for people.

                 Key Features of Robots

Some key features of robots are as follows:

Follow instructions: Robots work only when tell them what to do.

Can sense: Robots can see, hear or feel things around them.

Can move: Robots may have wheels, legs or arms to help them move and

                    work.

Have a brain: Inside a robot is a small computer that acts like its brain.

Do different jobs: Robots can help at home, in hospitals, in factories or

                    even in space.

                 Robots in Everyday Life

Robots can help with easy tasks at home or big jobs in factories. As technology

improves, robots are being used in many places to make work easier and
faster. Some everyday uses of robots are as follows:

At home: Cleaning robots can vacuum floors, mop and keep the house
                    clean.
