INTRODUCTION TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is what makes robots smarter.
It gives them the ability to think, learn and make decisions,
much like humans do. While traditional robots simply
follow commands, AI-powered robots can understand
their environment, adapt to new situations and even
solve problems on their own.
With AI, robots can work independently, analyse data and
make choices based on what they’ve learned, reducing the need
for constant human guidance. Unlike simple robots, AI lets machines
understand language, recognise patterns and even improve over time by learning
from experience.
For instance, a simple robot might repeat the same action, like moving its arm
or picking up objects, without any change. However, with AI, the robot becomes
smarter. It can identify different objects, adjust its behaviour based on changes
in its surroundings and even learn new tasks over time. This makes them more
intelligent and flexible.
Ask AIRO
Is AI the only way to make machines smart, or can other technologies also contribute to
creating intelligent devices? What are the alternatives?
Technologies used in AI
To make AI work, robots use special technologies. These technologies help robots
become smarter and do more things on their own. Here are some important
technologies that help robots learn and think:
Machine learning: This is a technology that allows robots to learn from
experience. Machine learning helps robots improve over time by analysing data
and adjusting their actions based on what they’ve learned.
Natural Language Processing (NLP): NLP is a technology that enables robots
to understand and communicate with humans. It allows robots to recognise
speech, answer questions and even have conversations, just like humans.
