n Health and wellbeing: Using the motion sensor, students can make a step counter
(pedometer) or a happy watch that shows cheerful messages or patterns on the
                    LED display.

n Assistive tools: Micro:bit can help people communicate. For example, Button

A could show a happy face and Button B a sad face for those who can’t speak
                    easily.

n Games and fun tools: Students can make a digital dice, a timer or even
multiplayer games by connecting two Micro:bits using radio signals.

n Safety and security: With its motion sensor, the Micro:bit can be used as a simple
alarm that flashes lights or makes a sound when it detects movement.

                 STEP COUNTER (PEDOMETER)

A step counter, also called a pedometer, is a simple

device used to count the number of steps a person
takes while walking or running. It helps people stay
active and keep track of their daily movement.

A pedometer is a small electronic device that detects
motion or movement using a built-in sensor. Each time
you take a step, the sensor senses the movement and

adds one to the total count. It helps people monitor
their physical activity and stay healthy by keeping track of how much they walk

                 each day.

                 How Micro:bit Counts Steps?

                 The Micro:bit has a built-in accelerometer sensor

that can detect movement, such as shaking,
tilting or walking. When you move while holding
the Micro:bit, the accelerometer senses the

change in motion and sends that information to
                 the Micro:bit’s program.

By using this sensor, you can make a step counter,

every time the Micro:bit detects movement like a
step, it adds one to the total count and shows the number on its LED display.
