THE STA MODEL: SENSE, THINK, ACT
The STA Model: Sense, Think, Act is a simple way to understand how robots and smart systems
work:
Sense: Robots use sensors to collect information from their surroundings, like eyes and ears do
for humans.
Think: A small computer (the robot’s ‘brain’) processes the information and decides what
action to take.
Act: The robot carries out the action, such as moving, lifting or turning.
This model shows how robots behave step by step, just like we sense, think and act in our daily
lives.
