SMART CITY ROBOTICS SOLUTION
Design and simulate a robotics-powered smart
city solution that uses AI models, sensors and
automation to manage urban activities such as
CAPSTONE PROJECT waste collection, traffic control and environment
monitoring.
Session 1: Robotics & AI Foundations
Activities:
1. Understanding Robots & Ethics
Task: Use Google Slides to create a visual presentation explaining the 5 generations of robots
and their role in modern cities. Include an ethical dilemma (e.g., Should robots replace traffic
police?) and present your conclusion.
Skills Practised:
Characterising robot generations
Exploring and discussing robot ethics
Presenting information effectively
2. Google Teachable Machine Model
Task: Train a Teachable Machine model to recognise 3 categories of urban waste (e.g. plastic
bottle, paper and fruit peel). Prepare it for use in a city waste-sorting robot.
Skills Practised:
Collecting and labelling image data
Training and testing an AI model
Exporting the model for integration or deployment
Outcome for Session 1: Build awareness about ethical, generational and functional aspects of
robots. Create an AI model that forms the core of an automated waste classification system.
Session 2: Smart Blocks in Action
Activities:
1. Robot as a System Model
Task: Draw a block diagram showing the mechanical, electronic and computational blocks of
your Smart City Robot. Label all key parts and explain each.
Skills Practised:
Identifying robot components
Visualising system design
Explanatory writing
