                 Introduction to Block-Based Programming

Block-based programming is an easy and enjoyable way to learn to code,
especially for beginners. Students can program the micro:bit by dragging

and dropping colorful blocks that fit together like puzzle pieces using the
MakeCode IDE. With this method, learning how to code does not involve

                 typing out difficult commands.

Students can use MakeCode to write programs that allow their micro:bit

to react to buttons and sensors, play music, show images, and control
lights. Each block may be easily joined to create a program, and each one

represents a unique action, like “play a sound” or “show a heart."

Exploring the Micro:bit for Programming 45
