In this activity, You will build a music control system where they can control

the volume or pitch of sounds using a buzzer and a potentiometer (a special
knob). When the system is powered on, turning the knob will change the sound
the buzzer makes – either making it louder, quieter, or changing the tone.

Concepts

• Sound and Electricity: You will learn that the buzzer makes sounds when it
gets electricity from the battery. The more electricity it gets, the louder the
sound, and the less electricity, the softer the sound.

• Controlling Sound with a Potentiometer: The potentiometer is a knob that
controls how much electricity goes to the buzzer. Turning it one way makes

the sound louder or changes the pitch and turning it the other way makes
the sound softer or changes the tone.

Observations

In the Music Control System activity, You will observe:

• When they turn the potentiometer knob, the sound from the buzzer changes.

• Turning the knob one way makes the sound louder or higher-pitched; while
turning it the other way makes it quieter or lower-pitched.
