Output
In this activity, you will program a micro:bit to
function as a simple digital thermometer. The
built-in temperature sensor on the micro:bit
will measure the ambient temperature and
display it on the LED screen. The temperature
can be displayed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit,
depending on how you choose to program it. This
helps you understand how sensors work and how
data can be collected and displayed using technology.
Concept
1. Temperature Measurement and Sensor Technology: You will learn how
the micro:bit uses a temperature sensor to measure the surrounding
temperature. This introduces them to the concept of sensors in real life,
where data is collected from the environment and processed for practical
use, such as in weather forecasting or air conditioning systems.
2. Data Representation and Display: You will explore how collected
temperature data can be converted into numbers and displayed on the
micro:bit’s LED grid. This concept helps you understand the connection
between raw data and how it is presented in a readable format. They can
also explore different units of measurement, like Celsius and Fahrenheit.
