Key Parts of a Circuit
1. Power Source: This is the energy supplier,
much like our bodies need food to function.
It can be a battery or electricity from a
wall outlet.
2. Wires: These are the connectors that link
various components together, enabling
electricity to travel from one place to another.
3. Components: These are tiny pieces that perform specific tasks, such as:
¡ ¡ Lights: These can make things glow, like
in a flashlight.
¡ ¡ Buttons: These control devices, letting
you turn them on and off.
¡ ¡ Speakers: These produce sounds, like
music or voices.
What is a Battery?
A battery is a small container that stores energy,
similar to a fuel tank for electricity. It powers devices,
allowing them to function.
Inside a battery, special chemicals create electricity
when connected to a device. When you insert a battery
into a toy and turn it on, the battery supplies electricity, making it work.
Batteries come in various shapes and sizes, and when they run out of energy,
you can replace them with new ones or recharge them if they are rechargeable.
A battery is crucial because it enables us to use our favourite devices.
What is a Polarity?
Polarity refers to the direction in which electricity
flows, like knowing which direction is “up” and
“down” for electricity. In a battery, there are two
ends: a positive side (+) and a negative side (-).
Electricity always flows from the positive side to the
negative side.
