RGB LED Testing Steps
Step 1 Before making the circuit, we need to test the type of RGB LED. Take
a multimeter and its probes, connect the black probe to the common
slot, and the red probe to the mAvΩ slot as shown in the image.
Step 2 Set the multimeter to continuity mode.
Step 3 Check the multimeter probes. If they are working fine, they will
produce a sound.
Step 4 Take the breadboard and connect the RGB LED.
Step 5 Connect the black probe to the common pin and
the red probe to one of the other pins of the RGB
LED.
Step 6 If the RGB LED glows, it is a common cathode
RGB LED, and the connections should be made
accordingly.
Step 7 If the RGB LED does not glow, swap the red and
black probes. Now, connect the black probe to one
of the other pins of the RGB LED and the red probe
to the common pin of the RGB LED.
Step 8 If the RGB LED glows, it is a common anode RGB
LED, and the connections should be made as per the
common anode RGB LED configuration.
Circuit Setup Steps for Common Anode RGB LED
Step 1 Take a breadboard.
Step 2 Connect the 7805 voltage regulator IC to the breadboard as
shown.
Step 3 Take a battery and connect the battery cap.
Step 4 Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the input
terminal of the 7805 voltage regulator IC.
Step 5 Connect the ground terminal of the 7805 IC to the negative
terminal of the battery.
