Soil Moisture Sensors
A soil moisture sensor helps measure how much water is in the soil. It can detect if the
soil is dry or wet. Farmers and gardeners use it to check if plants need water, making
sure they do not overwater or underwater their crops. The sensor sends this information
to a device, helping take better care of plants by knowing when to water them.
OLED Display
An OLED display is a small screen that shows information using bright lights and
colors. It doesn’t need a lot of power to work and is often used in small devices
like fitness trackers, cameras, and even some smartwatches. With an OLED display,
you can see readings like temperature, time, or messages from sensors like the soil
moisture sensor.

Activity Program a System to Monitor Soil Moisture Skills #Collaboration
Overview
Students, have you ever wondered how farmers know when to water their plants? They often use
smart systems that check how wet or dry the soil is. Just like in this activity we will be building a
Smart Soil System using a Soil Moisture Sensor and an OLED Display. The sensor will measure the
moisture in the soil, and the display will show us if the soil needs water or not. Through this activity,
you will see how simple electronics and programming can help improve farming and gardening in
real life.
Learning Objective
The objective of this activity is for students to explore how sensors and displays work together by
building a system that measures soil moisture and shows the data on an OLED display. This helps
students understand how technology can be used in real-life applications like farming.
