Step 6 You can also calculate the value of slope by using the slope function in Excel. Click on any cell, and

type =slope((select all y values) , (select all x values). Press the Enter key to see the answer.
Step 7 You can also calculate the value of intercept by using the intercept function in Excel. Click on any cell, and type

=intercept ((select all y values) , (select all x values). Press the Enter key to see the answer.
Using the regression equation, we can calculate predicted values of y using any values of x.
The vertical distance between the observed responses in the dataset and the line of best fit is called the residual
error (e) as shown in the graph below:
