Primary Elements of AI
When a child learns to tell the difference between fruits, they look at different ones like apples, bananas, and oranges
and remember their features. After some time, they can recognise them in new pictures. In the same way, a computer
can learn from data and identify patterns. This ability to learn and make decisions is called Artificial Intelligence (AI).
AI is the technology that allows machines to think, learn, and solve problems. It’s about enhancing how we work and
make decisions. AI combines computer science and large sets of data to help machines act intelligently, like assistants
that can understand, adapt, and act independently. Two key parts of AI are Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning
(DL). These allow computers to learn from data, spot patterns, and improve over time, just as humans do through
experience.
AI can do things such as:
u understand language – voice assistants like Siri or Alexa can listen and respond.
u recognise images – AI can identify objects or faces in photos.
u make predictions – from suggesting your next film to forecasting the weather.
u play games – AI can compete in chess or even beat professionals in video games.
u drive cars – self-driving vehicles use AI to sense surroundings and make safe choices.
In short, AI gives machines the ability to learn, reason, and act—bringing us closer to a world where technology truly
thinks alongside us.
