Addition by ForwArd Counting

We can use a number strip to add numbers by forward counting.

Suppose we have to find 5 + 8.

We start from 5 and count 8 steps forward.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 We reach at 13.

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20

So, 5 + 8 = 13
Similarly, 9 + 6 = 15
