SubtraCting ZerO (0)
Mona has 5 apples. She eats nothing.
How many apples does she still have?
Clearly, 5.
So, 5 – 0 = 5
Similarly, we have 6 – 0 = 6, 4 – 0 = 4 and so on.
When we subtract zero from a number, the number remains the same.
SubtraCting One (1)
Rakhi has 4 apples. She eats one apple.
How many apples are left?
Clearly, 3.
So, 4 – 1 = 3
Similarly, we have 8 – 1 = 7, 5 – 1 = 4 and so on.
When we subtract one from a number, we get the previous number.
