            RELATION BETWEEN DIVISION AND MULTIPLICATION

For each multiplication fact, there are two division facts.

There are 3 baskets of 6 strawberries can be shared

2 strawberries each. equally in two ways

                       3 × 2 = 6 6 ÷ 3 = 2 6 ÷ 2 = 3

                Multiplication Fact Division Fact

            Similarly:

                                 8 × 5 = 40 7 × 5 = 35

                         40 ÷ 5 = 8 40 ÷ 8 = 5 35 ÷ 5 = 7 35 ÷ 7 = 5

                                  9 × 3 = 27
                                                                               Keep in Mind

                         27 ÷ 9 = 3 27 ÷ 3 = 9 For a multiplication like 5 × 5 = 25,

only one division fact is possible,
                                                                          that is, 25 ÷ 5 = 5.
            TERMS OF A DIVISION STATEMENT

            Consider the division statement 14 ÷ 2 = 7.

                                            Dividend Divisor Quotient
Dividend: The number we divide is the dividend. Here, 14 is the dividend.
