                ROLLING AND SLIDING OBJECTS

We can identify whether a solid can roll or slide by observing its faces.

If a solid is made up of only plane shapes, it slides.

Here, we can see that the pencil box is made up of
only plane shapes. So, the box is sliding.

If a solid is made up of only curved
                                          shapes, it rolls.

Here, we can see that the ball is

made up of only a curved shape.

                                          So, the ball is rolling.

Some solids are made up of both plane and curved shapes. Such objects

can roll as well as slide.

Here, we can see that the drink can is made up of both plane and curved
shapes. So, it can both roll and slide.
