MEASUREMENT OF CAPACITY
Take a bucket and a mug. Fill each of them with water.
Which one can hold more water?
The bucket can hold more water than the mug.
We say that the capacity of the bucket is more than
the capacity of the mug.
We use the words 'more' and 'less' to compare the
capacities of containers.
The capacity of a container is the quantity of liquid it can hold.
Take a jug and a cup. Fill the jug using the cup. You
will see that one jug can hold 8 cups of water. So,
the capacity of the jug is the same as the capacity
of 8 cups.
We measure the quantity of liquid in millilitres and litres.
