            Example. A batsman scored 22 runs in the first match, 12 runs in
            the second match and 25 runs in the third match. How many runs
            did he score in the three matches?

            Solution. We have to find 22 + 12 + 25.

            Write the numbers one below the other according to the place value. Then add.


             Step 1.  Add the ones.                                 Step 2.  Add the tens.
