In the last arrangement, we see that there are 9 groups. Each group has 4
stamps. So, there are 36 stamps in all.

Thus, we can say that 9 groups of 4 each make 36.

            We write 9 groups of 4 each as 9 × 4 = 36. Multiplication is a
                                                                                               faster way to do
We can read 9 × 4 = 36 in the following ways: repeated addition.

            • 9 times 4 is 36. • 9 fours are 36.

            • 9 into 4 equals 36. • 9 multiplied by 4 is equal to 36.
