A fraction is a number that shows equal parts of a whole.
To check whether two fractions are equivalent, we cross multiply them. If we get the
same product, then the fractions are equivalent.
Fractions that represent the same parts of a whole are called equivalent fractions.
Fractions with the same denominator are called like fractions.
Fractions with different denominators are called unlike fractions.
If the denominators are the same, the fraction with the greater numerator is greater.
Addition and subtraction of like fractions involve operations on the numerators
only.
