            NumberS ON THe Number LINe

In the previous classes, we have learnt how to place smaller numbers on a number
line. Now, we shall learn how to place bigger numbers on a number line.
example. Given below is a number line marked with numbers from 1,000 to 1,100 at
            intervals of 10.

                             1,011 1,047

                  1,000 1,010 1,020 1,030 1,040 1,050 1,060 1,070 1,080 1,090 1,100

Here, 1,011 and 1,047 are marked. Can you mark 1,023, 1,069 and 1,085?

Solution. Yes, we can mark the numbers 1,023, 1,069 and 1,085 as shown below.
                             1,011 1,023 1,047 1,069 1,085

                  1,000 1,010 1,020 1,030 1,040 1,050 1,060 1,070 1,080 1,090 1,100

                        Exercise 1B

                1. Which numbers lie between 20,525 and 20,575 among the following numbers?
                    Circle them.

                        20,555 20,450 21,050 20,529 20,584 20,604

                2. Do as directed.

                    a. Mark the following numbers on the number line given below.

                              51,000 52,000 53,000 54,000 5,5000 56,000 57,000 58,000 59,000

                    b. Fill in the blanks and mark the following numbers on the number line given below.
                                          87,500 90,250 86,750 92,500

                         85,000 87,000 96,000

                3. Count and write the next five numbers in each case. One has been done for you.
