                COmPArINg NumberS

                We have already learnt the method of comparing numbers up to 4 digits. The rules of

                comparison for large numbers are the same.

                Comparing Numbers with Different Number of Digits

                rule 1. The greater the number of digits, the greater is the number.


                example 1. Compare 53,645 and 3,687.

                                   5 digits          >        4 digits

                Thus, 53,645 > 3,687.

                Comparing Numbers with the Same Number of Digits

                rule 2. If the number of digits is the same, then we start comparing the digits from

                the extreme left. We compare the digits until we find two digits that are different. The
                digits that are different are compared to find the larger number.
