a. 745 cm into m and cm b. 7500 m into km and m

Solution. a. 745 cm = 700 cm + 45 cm = (700 ÷ 100) m + 45 cm = 7 m 45 cm
b. 7500 m = 7000 m + 500 m = (7000 ÷ 1000) km + 500 m = 7 km 500 m

example 4. Express:

a. 5258 m into km and m b. 5170 mm into m and mm
Solution. a. 5258 m = 5000 m + 258 m = (5000 ÷ 1000) km + 258 m = 5 km 258 m

b. 5170 mm = 5000 mm + 170 mm
= (5000 ÷ 1000) m + 170 mm = 5 m 170 mm
