                Finding Area using Geo Dotted Paper

                We can also find the area of a figure using geo dotted paper. Each unit on the geo
                dotted paper measures 1 cm. So, each square on it has a side of 1 cm and has an

                area of 1 sq. cm.

                example 3. Find the area of these shapes. Note that each square has a side equal to
                1 cm.

                Solution.  We can count the number of squares covered by each shape and find the
