The place value chart is separated into groups called periods which are further
separated into places.
The place value of a digit depends on its position in the number.
The face value of a digit in a number is the value of the digit itself irrespective of its
place in the number.
When a set of given numbers is arranged from the smallest to the largest, the
numbers are said to be in ascending order.
When a set of given numbers is arranged from the largest to the smallest, the
numbers are said to be in descending order.
To form the greatest number with the given digits, write the digits in decreasing
order (descending order).
To form the smallest number with the given digits, write the digits in increasing
order (ascending order).
