                        The  place value chart is separated  into  groups  called periods  which  are further
                         separated into places.
                        The place value of a digit depends on its position in the number.

                        The face value of a digit in a number is the value of the digit itself irrespective of its
                         place in the number.

                        When a set  of given numbers  is  arranged from the  smallest  to  the  largest, the
                         numbers are said to be in ascending order.
                        When a set  of given numbers  is  arranged from the  largest  to  the  smallest,  the

                         numbers are said to be in descending order.
                        To form the  greatest  number  with the  given digits,  write  the  digits  in decreasing
                         order (descending order).

                        To form the  smallest  number  with the  given  digits,  write  the  digits  in increasing
                         order (ascending order).
