Similar to the estimated sum, we can also find the estimated difference. We round off
the numbers to estimate their difference.

                Example. Find the estimated difference:
                             a. 75 – 28 to the nearest 10 b. 342 – 168 to the nearest 100

                            Exercise 2E

                    1. Estimate each difference by rounding numbers to the nearest 10. Also find the
                       actual difference.
                       a. 76 – 25 b. 436 – 255 c. 715 – 219 d. 555 – 333

                   2. Estimate each difference by rounding numbers to the nearest 100. Also find the
                       actual difference.

Example. The population of a town is 74321. If 39876 are males, find the number of
                females in that town.

                Solution. Total population of the town = 7 4 3 2 1
                            Number of males = – 3 9 8 7 6

                            Number of females = 3 4 4 4 5
Thus, the town has 34445 females.
