Multiplying by a 2-Digit number Ending with 0

Look at the following examples and observe their results.

a. 145 × 10 = 1450

b. 2367 × 10 = 23670

c. 72 × 20 = 72 × (2 × 10) = (72 × 2) × 10 = 144 × 10 = 1440
d. 304 × 30 = 304 × (3 × 10) = (304 × 3) × 10 = 912 × 10 = 9120

e. 2146 × 40 = 2146 × (4 × 10) = (2146 × 4) × 10 = 8584 × 10 = 85840

To multiply a number by a 2-digit number ending with 0, we write a 0 in the ones
place and multiply the number by the digit in the tens place.
