                        Exercise 4F

                1. Find the estimated quotients by rounding the numbers to their highest place.
                    a. 81 ÷ 18 b. 95 ÷ 14 c. 88 ÷ 34 d. 257 ÷ 28

                    e. 402 ÷ 44 f. 1821 ÷ 22 g. 4620 ÷ 48 h. 2004 ÷ 53

                2. Match the following columns correctly:
                     Column A Column B Column C
                     (Division) (Rounds to) (Estimated quotients)

                    a. 76 ÷ 24 i. 90 ÷ 30 I. 5

Example 1. There are an equal number of students in each class of Blue Marble School.
If there are 248 students in 4 classes, how many students are there in each class?

            solution. 6 2

            Number of classes = 4 4 2 4 8
            Total number of students = 248 – 2 4

            Number of students in each class = 248 ÷ 4 8
                                                      = 62 – 8

Thus, the number of students in each class is 62. 0

Example 2. If 7488 kg of rice is filled in 16 sacks equally, find the weight of rice in each
            sack. 4 6 8
            solution. 16 7 4 8 8

            Total quantity of rice = 7488 kg – 6 4
            Number of sacks = 16 1 0 8

            Quantity of rice in each sack = 7488 ÷ 16 – 9 6
                                                 = 468 kg – 1 2 8
                                                                                                             1 2 8
Thus, the weight of rice in each sack = 468 kg. 0
