                Cube Connection

                You can see here that a cube and a cuboid are formed by the arrangement of unit
                cubes.

                Can you say which arrangement has more cubes?


                Here, we see that the first arrangement has 64 cubes, while the second arrangement
                has 112 cubes. So, the second arrangement has more cubes.

                Now, consider the following arrangements:






















                The arrangement on the left shows the original solid made by small cubes, while the

                arrangement on the right shows the solid after some cubes have been removed. How
                many cubes have been removed from the first arrangement?

                Clearly, we can see that the first arrangement has 125 cubes, while the other arrangement

                has 44 cubes. So, 125 – 44 = 81 cubes have been removed from the first arrangement to
                get the second arrangement.
