Example 3. Multiply 755 L by 35. Express the product in kL and L.

Solution. 755 L × 35 = 26425 L

Now, 26425 L = 26000 L + 425 L

= 26 kL 425 L

Thus, the answer is 26 kL 425 L.

Example 4. Divide 14 L 580 mL by 12. Express the answer in L and mL.

Solution. 14 L 580 mL = 14 L + 580 mL

= 14 × 1000 mL + 580 mL
–
= 14000 mL + 580 mL

= 14580 mL –

Now, we find 14580 mL ÷ 12.

We have 14580 mL ÷ 12 = 1215 mL = 1000 mL + 215 mL
–
= 1 L 215 mL

Thus, the answer is 1 L 215 mL.
