Take about 200 mL of water in a container. Soak some whole moong seeds or black/
white chana in it overnight. The next morning, take them out and do these two activities:
                • Wrap some of the seeds in a moist cloth or tissue paper to let them sprout. For the
next four days, take out one seed each day and measure the length of the sprout.
For ease of measurement, you can either place the seed on paper and mark the

length of the sprout or use a piece of thread to determine its length.
number of days Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4
                     Length of sprout (in mm)

                • Take a pot and put about 3-4 kg of garden soil in it. Prepare the soil and sow the
remaining soaked seeds into the pot. Spread a layer of soft soil over the seeds

and place the pot in an open space. Observe the pot regularly and maintain the
moisture, air and sunlight for the germination of seeds.
Make a table on chart paper and record your observations in it.

              1. There are three pipes attached to a water tank. Two pipes fill water in the tank at the
rate of 2 L 500 mL per second and 3 L 200 mL per second, respectively. The third
pipe attached at the bottom of the tank throws out 100 mL of water every second. If
the tank gets filled in 3 hours, find the capacity of the tank.

              2. How will you measure exactly 2 litres of water if you
                  have only a 4-litre bowl and a 5-litre bowl?
                                                                                          5 L 4 L
