                7. The perimeter of a rectangular garden is 150 m and its breadth is 30 m. Find its
                    length.

              8. A wall is built around a rectangular plot of land with a length of 85 m and a breadth
of 60 m. Find the total cost of constructing the wall at `125 per metre.
              9. Ravi runs four times around a square field, each of whose sides measures 102 m. How
                    much distance does he run?

              10. The total length of the fence around a square field is 308 m. Find the length of each
                    side of the square field.

              11. Find the perimeter of a triangle in which two sides
measure 11 cm each and the third side measures 16 cm.

              12. Find the perimeter of an equilateral triangle where
each side is 18 cm long.
              13. The perimeter of a triangle is 60 cm and two of its sides measure 15 cm and 18 cm

                    respectively. Find the third side.
              14. You have 16 paving stones to design a patio. Each stone is one metre square. The
stones must be joined so that at least one edge of each stone touches the edge
of another stone. Use squared paper to show which design would give the longest

perimeter and which would give the shortest perimeter.

            AreA

Area is the amount of surface covered
by a figure. Look at the two posters given
alongside. Which poster is bigger? Why?

It is clear that poster B is bigger because
it takes up more space than poster A. In
other words, we can say that poster B has
            more area than poster A.

            Units of Area
Consider a square whose side is 1 cm. Its area would be the surface
            enclosed within its four sides.

We say that its area is 1 square centimetre or 1 sq. cm.
Square centimetre or sq. cm is a unit of area.

Now, look at the figure of the rectangle given alongside.

This rectangle can be covered by 7 squares, each of area
1 sq. cm. Therefore, the area of this rectangle is 7 sq. cm. 1 cm
