example 8. Kareem has a garden measuring 240 m by 80 m. He wants to divide the
garden into square flower beds of side 8 m. How many flower beds can be formed?
Solution. Area of the garden = Length × Breadth
= 240 m × 80 m = 19,200 sq. m
Area of a flower bed = 8 m × 8 m = 64 sq. m
Number of flower beds that can be formed
= Area of the garden ÷ Area of a flower bed
= 19,200 sq. m ÷ 64 sq. m = 300
Thus, 300 square flower beds can be formed.
