Maps
A map is a drawing or diagram that shows the positions of objects within a certain area.
It helps us understand where things are located in relation to one another. For example,
a map of a classroom shows where the teacher’s desk, chairs, blackboard and doors are.
Look at the above map drawn by Swati, a student of class 5. The map shows the way
from her home to school.
We can see that in the given map:
• The Slice Station is nearer to Swati’s home than the park.
• The temple is farther from Swati’s home than the park.
• The temple lies on the left side when Swati goes to school.
